FAQ
Do you have back pain? Or are you often troubled by headaches?
Are you suffering from pain after a traffic accident or a work-related injury?
You are an athlete, but you experience joint stiffness and severe pain after every workout.
You have back pain during pregnancy.
You suffer from pain in your prime years and are unable to enjoy your retirement.
You are very concerned about your physical health and are looking for an alternative health care model.
You are very concerned about the healthy growth of your newborn baby.If you are facing the above problems, you should find a chiropractor to solve these problems. Currently, an average of more than 120,000 people receive chiropractic treatment every day in Canada. These chiropractors have received seven years of university education, learned unique spinal correction methods, and combined with other therapies according to the condition when necessary, to correct spinal problems in a precise and gentle way, and finally free you from the pain. However, chiropractic treatment also includes diet and exercise therapy, but combined with these auxiliary therapies, you will definitely be able to return to your best condition.
During my first visit, my chiropractor will:
Carefully evaluate your health history.
Review your current health problems to see if they are related to past surgeries, illnesses, accidents, or lifestyle habits.
A comprehensive and detailed neurological, orthopaedic and spinal examination, including reflexes and muscle strength, is performed.
Where necessary, X-ray angiography and medical tests are used to assist diagnosis. When people with different needs seek treatment from chiropractors, chiropractors will use different treatments to meet the needs of individual patients. Some patients seek pain treatment, while others seek a way to get healthy. Chiropractic treatment can meet the needs of both.
Chiropractors do more than just treat pain and symptoms of disease.
Chiropractic care treats all problems caused by mild displacement of the joints in the spine, not necessarily just low back pain. Whenever there is slight displacement of joints in the spine, the mobility of the spinal joints will be restricted, squeezing and irritating the spinal joint nerves, directly affecting the communication between the brain and various parts of the body. By using precise and skillful chiropractic treatments, chiropractors can relieve symptoms and improve the patient's health, allowing the spine and nervous system to return to normal function again. You can also ask your chiropractor for other tips on improving your health.

The main function of the intervertebral disc is to reduce the friction between the joints, which can not only absorb shock but also enhance the support of the spine, and has a significant protective effect.
The shape and appearance of the intervertebral disc is quite similar to a half-cooked poached egg. The outer part of the intervertebral disc is like the egg white of the poached egg, with a firmer structure and texture. The central part of the intervertebral disc is a jelly-like soft cushion, like an uncooked egg yolk.
The spinal cord is a part of the nerve center in the spine. This nerve center, like a large cable, gathers the sensory nerves and motor nerves required for the operation of all major organs and limbs. In order for these nerves to play their functions, they must be shunted and extended through some spinal nerve foramina, and the location of these nerve foramina is on the left and right sides of each spinal joint.
The intervertebral disc is located in front of the spinal cord, hidden between the solid parts of two vertebrae. When the weight of the upper layer is evenly distributed, it plays the role of a cushion. However, if the weight of the upper layer increases or the center of gravity shifts, the intervertebral disc may overflow in one or more directions, compressing the spinal cord or the nerve roots on both sides, causing severe pain or numbness, forming the so-called "intervertebral disc herniation", or "cartilage herniation".
Animals that walk on four legs probably rarely suffer from "disc herniation" because gravity will only pull the disc toward the ground, away from the spinal cord in the back, so the nerves will not be compressed. But the situation is different for humans. In the case of spinal dislocation, even if we are not holding heavy objects, the disc in the waist will be under great pressure due to the influence of gravity. Therefore, we should pay attention to our daily posture so that the spine can always maintain a normal curvature. As for those patients who have already suffered from "disc herniation", chiropractors can help such patients recover their health if they have mastered the treatment methods.
"Intervertebral disc herniation" is more likely to occur in the lumbar spine joints because the lumbar spine bears a greater weight than other parts of the spine. When the patient first develops the disease, if the condition is not too serious, he or she may recover quickly after treatment and recuperation. However, because there has been a crack around the edge of the intervertebral disc, if the joint is slightly stressed in the future, the intervertebral disc will overflow from the old crack again, causing the old disease to recur.
There are many actions in daily life that can cause enough pressure to dislocate the intervertebral disc, including picking up heavy objects, bending over to pick up objects, and when the patient coughs or sneezes too hard, all of which may cause the intervertebral disc to overflow from the old injury, causing immediate pain.

In fact, if we understand the original meaning of the medical term "sciatica", it will be easy to know that it is not difficult for doctors to name this disease. To understand sciatica, it is actually self-explanatory. First of all, this is a pain disease. The apparent cause of the pain is that the so-called sciatic nerve located in the lower limbs is compressed, causing symptoms such as pain and numbness. The sciatic nerve is the longest nerve in the whole body, extending from the lower back to the sole of the foot. This nerve mainly originates from the fourth and fifth lumbar vertebrae nerve foramina, and its function is to be responsible for transmitting nerve messages between the spinal cord and various parts of the lower limbs. It is not difficult to diagnose sciatica, because if other lumbar nerves are compressed, the symptoms will generally only appear in the waist, buttocks or thighs. However, if the symptoms extend from the waist to the knees or below, it is very likely that you have sciatica. A simple medical examination can make the diagnosis.
Strictly speaking, "sciatica" is not a disease name with therapeutic value, because it only describes the nerve line being compressed, but does not accurately point out which part of the long sciatic nerve is compressed; as for what is pressing on the sciatic nerve, it is not clearly explained. For example, is it because of the tightness of the hip muscles that causes pain in the lower limbs, the displacement of the lumbar joint, the protrusion of the intervertebral disc, or the reason of the lower abdominal tumor that compresses the nerve line and causes pain? Only when the doctor knows the real cause of the disease can he say whether this disease is terrible.
If a doctor wants to cure a disease, he must first find out the root cause of the disease before he can provide the patient with a targeted radical treatment. If the doctor has diagnosed the patient with "sciatica" and the root cause has not been determined, he can only use painkillers or try to relax the patient's waist muscles. Then, the symptoms often come back and it is difficult to "cure the problem". When the doctor is diagnosing a disease, if he only mentions "sciatica" to the patient, this is a disease name without specifying the root cause. When the doctor mentions the name "sciatica", the patient should immediately ask the cause of the pain. If sciatica is caused by displacement of joints such as the lumbar spine or pelvis, chiropractors can generally help patients with targeted treatments with their professional knowledge and experience.
